A lucky Lotto player from the Mid West farming town of Northampton is now a millionaire after their numbers came up in last night’s draw.

The $1 million division one win means Northampton Newsagency has now sold three winning tickets in the past three years.

Owner Amanda Fraser said everyone was “pretty excited” and it was a welcome change to have something nice to talk about besides coronavirus.

“Farming life hasn’t stopped here so everyone is just going about their days as usual and being a small town, it’s been a nice distraction,” she said.

“The last time we had a million-dollar winner was late 2017 and the winner was one of our regulars. He was waiting out front at 7am as he couldn’t wait to tell us but this time, we have no idea who the winner is.”

The newsagency also had a $50,000 Scratch’n’Win winner in 2018. making this its third win in the past three years.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said 2020 had been a good year for regional WA and that this $ 1 million win took the total division one wins to 31.

“Winning $1 million is a life-changing amount of money and we look forward to meeting the winner and sharing their story,” she said.
