Esperance is bracing for an influx of visitors come the Easter long weekend in April, with accommodation providers saying they are fully booked with happy campers ready to explore the south-east of the State.

The new Esperance Tanker Jetty, which is set to open just days before the four-day weekend, is generating a buzz among visitors and locals alike, with a new item for tourists to check off their to-do list.

Esperance Tourism Board chairman Wayne Halliday said the Easter weekend was much like the Labour Day long weekend that has just passed, with plenty of businesses booked out well in advance.

“We were fully booked through that time and lost all our bookings in a matter of minutes,” she said.

“So they’ve all gone to great lengths to rebook so they can still have their holiday.”

Pink Lake Caravan Park offers both chalets and camping facilities, and have had their books fill up within the past fortnight thanks to online bookings.

“It’s only four days, and it doesn’t seem to go beyond the long weekend, even though its school holidays,” she said.

“People are staying in the State and aren’t venturing very far, though there are a few interstate travellers. Lots of people from Kalgoorlie, most people actually, like this weekend just gone.”
