Early Saturday mornings are back on at the Katanning Leisure Centre with the highly anticipated Katanning Netball Association returning with eager junior and senior sides hitting the courts.

The A1 division had three close games for the first round, with a spirited Olympians 1 almost edging out Te Taitonga 1.

But Te Taitonga built a nice buffer, despite having to finish the fourth quarter with just six players due to injury, and held onto a 54-35 victory.

Allstars 1 took on Kojonup 1 and had a strong game all four quarters with a lot of back-and-forth momentum.

However, Allstars held firm and came out on top with a 48-42 triumph.

Cardinals Force played Kojonup 2 in a heavily contested game for both sides, with the Force taking the win with 39-30.

The A2 was probably the most topsy turvy division.

Allstars 2 could not get themselves up over Broomehill who took a whopping 50-27 win while Dumbleyung almost let the game go but managed to gradually take the win over Te Taitonga 2, 44-38.

Cardinals Fever and Olympians 2 kept their game close, with Olympians 2 coming out on top with 36 goals to 32.

In A3 with Kojonup 4 grabbed a win over Cardinals Phoenix 36-24 and Kojonup 3 charged to a 45-23 win over Allstars 3.

Children of all ages hopped onto the netball courts along with their family and friends to watch, with big numbers of spectators.

Go juniors and juniors had a great start as all the teams came together with such eagerness to get the games started.

They had so much fun cheering each other on, some even starting their first year in a real competition, leaving with the biggest smiles.

Seventeen teams signed up for the 2024 senior competition, which started smoothly with all teams raring to go by the first whistle.

A slight change has been made to the divisions, with the previous four KNA divisions condensed to three to widen the field of competition.

With several senior players changing clubs, people leaving in general and new people on board, it makes for an interesting year ahead.

Kojonup Netball Association held their annual Set & Go carnival run by Netball WA’s Great Southern team on Sunday.

Katanning sent four teams across, two in each competition that had teams from Albany, Narrikup, Ongerup, Kojonup and Wagin.

Before games started all kids participated in some netball drills which had the youngsters right into their team chants and cheering on the sidelines.

Uniforms were jazzed up for fun prizes at the end, along with the more serious awards highlighting some amazing talent displayed on the day.

The team spirit that all the children had in both divisions was outstanding.

The dedication to taking on new playing positions each round and striving to know all about it was rewarding for everyone.

Netball season has only just begun in the majority of the associations around the region.

For the children to be thrown into an all-day carnival was a true show of character of how these young ones display their passion for netball.
