Boxwood Hill moved a step closer to securing a finals berth after their impressive 33-point win over the second-placed Newdegate in round 12 of the Ongerup Football Association on Saturday.

With only two wins to their name heading into the clash, Boxwood sat just a game clear of the last-placed Jerramungup on the ladder.

After an even first term Boxwood set up their third win of the season with a five-goal second quarter against the Lions.

Playing at Borden, Boxwood skipped 21 points clear by the main break and extended that buffer to 31 points by three-quarter-time.

The Lions kicked three goals in the final term but the home side booted three of their own to run out winners, 15.16 (106) to 11.7 (73).

Nic Bertola was terrific with a four-goal haul for Boxwood and was well supported by Matt Campbell, pictured, and Jeremy Walker.

Campbell chipped in with three majors and Rohan Vaux also had an impact with three goals.

The win pushed Boxwood two games clear in fourth spot with three rounds of the regular season to play.

Lions spearhead Arron Russell kicked seven goals in a losing affair, as he tried his best to drag the visitors back into the contest.

Jeremy Richardson played well and youngster Nelson Kent provided plenty of drive, but their side fell to a fourth loss of the season.

Gnowangerup’s winning ways continued in the other fixture at Jerramungup, as the premiership fancies had a thumping 126-point win.

James Culleton (seven goals) and Lewis Davis (six) did the damage up front in the Bulldogs’ first game without star forward Timm House.

The Bulldogs held the Eagles scoreless in the opening half to open up a 64-point buffer and added 11 majors in the last half on their way to a crushing victory, 21.14 (140) to 2.2 (14).

Scott Anderson was influential in the midfield for the winners and Elliot Jaeschke was also a driving force in the reigning premiers chalking up their 10th win of the season.

The Eagles were best served by Jayden Brooks and Tate Barrett.
