Labor has promised extra cash for basketball in Geraldton if it wins re-election in the State.

Candidate for Geraldton Lara Dalton said Wednesday the McGowan government had increased its election promise to develop Active West Stadium to $2 million from $1.5 million.

The extra $500,000 funding commitment will allow for a complete rebuild of canteen facilities, upgrade of the toilets and changerooms, and new facilities for competitors as well as adding court space and stadium capacity, line marking for other sports, and storage, Ms Dalton said.

Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association president Peter Brown said the support was key to redeveloping the stadium.

“An additional half a million dollars enables us to increase the scope of the redevelopment and achieve an even bigger and better outcome for our members, spectators and the whole community,” he said.
