Police are frantically searching for a toddler who is believed to have wandered off during a storm in Margaret River last night.

Two year old Albert and his family were lodging at the Stay Margaret River Motel on Wallcliffe Road, when they noticed him missing about 4:30am this morning.

A police search is underway and is set to ramp up in resources this morning.

Police are concerned for the boy’s safety given his young age and the stormy conditions in the area last night.

The Bureau of Meteorology reported a heavy downpour of about 25mm of rain overnight, with strong gusts of wind.

Weather conditions are expected to ease later today.

Many locals have joined the desperate search for the little boy including a concerned next door neighbour.

“There was quite a big storm last night so it’s very worrying,” she said.

Albert is believed to be wearing Harry Potter pyjamas and described as having dark coloured skin, short dark hair and brown eyes.
