A 66-year-old motorcycle rider is dead after crashing his bike into a tree in the State’s South West.

Police say the crash happened on the Balingup-Nannup Road near Balingup, about 230km south of Perth, around 1.45pm on Saturday.

The black Harley Davidson was about 3km from town when it veered off the road and slammed into the tree.

The rider suffered critical injuries and was treated at the scene but died as he was being airlifted to hospital in Perth.

Major Crash investigators want to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or the Harley Davidson motorcycle in the area.
