A child has died after a serious collision in Perth’s south on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3.15pm, two cars collided at the intersection of Garden Street and Boardman Road in Canning Vale.

Police and St John ambulances rushed to the scene with a child taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital with critical injuries.

The child has since died.

An adult and another child have been treated for minor injuries.

The crash shut Garden Street northbound between Forest Lakes Drive and Figtree Drive until just after 7pm.

Traffic was slow in the area with commuters urged to seek an alternative route.

Major crash officers are investigating and anyone with information is ask to contact Crime Stoppers.
