Woman charged with murder over fatal stabbing in Rivervale

A woman has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man in Rivervale last night.

Police say the 42-year-old woman stabbed the victim, a 50-year-old man, in the chest just before 6.30pm on Tuesday in a unit on Fitzroy Road.

St John Ambulance rushed the man to Royal Perth Hospital, but he could not be saved and died a short time later from his injuries.

It is believed the man and woman were known to each other.

One neighbour who did not want to be identified, said she arrived home last night to a street swarmed with police and paramedics.

She said saw “heaps of police cars” and the victim in the back of an ambulance while paramedics worked on him.

The woman who lives in a neighbouring house said she often heard arguing at the home, but was shocked when her quiet street turn into a crime scene.

The accused is expected to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
