Nail-biting footage of three boys running across the Kwinana Freeway at peak hour has emerged online, as police investigate whether the incident is linked to a recent burglary.

The video shows the young teens waiting at the concrete barrier between the south and north-bound lanes of the freeway as cars speed past them, before eventually running out in front of the on-coming traffic.

A truck is slamming on the brakes, narrowly missing one of the boys by less than a second, before coming to a stop on the side of the road.

The one-minute video, filmed by a witness on an overpass near the Cockburn Train Station, was posted to Reddit last night.

“No way ... no, so dumb,” the person is heard saying as the teens run across the busy road.

It is understood the incident happened around 5:40pm on Friday 11 June.

Yesterday Fremantle detectives put out an appeal to the public seeking dash-cam footage of the brazen event.

“Around 5.30pm the boys are believed to have committed a burglary on a house in Fyfe Circle, (which) runs adjacent to the Freeway,” a Facebook post by Fremantle police said.

“They were seen carrying a case that was stolen from the house when they ran across the Kwinana Freeway and across the railway line.

“This was reported to police by a witness travelling on the southbound carriageway of the Freeway.”

Anyone who saw the boys in the area at the time or has dash-cam footage of three teenagers around the time of the burglary is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online.
