A 15-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly threatening and spraying a ride share driver with pepper spray before attempting to steal his vehicle in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Police allege the incident unfolded about 12pm on Friday after the teenager and another male were picked up by a ride share driver outside of a Balga home.

It is alleged the pair threatened the driver while inside the vehicle before the 15-year-old produced a bottle of pepper spray.

The driver then stopped at a service station on Canham Way in Greenwood and got out of the vehicle.

Police further allege the teenager followed the driver from the car and sprayed him with the spray before the two males fled the scene on foot.

The 15-year-old was arrested at an address in Balga a short time later.

He has been charged with making a threat to unlawfully do an act, causing poison to be administered, aggravated armed robbery and attempting to steal a motor vehicle.

The teenager appeared before the Perth Children’s Court on Saturday.

Police said the second male remains outstanding and inquiries to locate him are continuing.
