A NSW Riverina man has been charged with raping and molesting two girls in his care - one as young as six - over 14 years.

Police in December launched an investigation into allegations of historic child sex abuse by a man between 2006 and 2020.

On Wednesday, a 37-year-old man was arrested over the allegations and charged with abuse offences relating to two girls aged between six and 16.

Among the charges were counts of sexual assault, groping, and aggravated indecent assault. He was also charged with raping a girl between the ages of 10 and 14.

Police will allege the man abused the girls over a 14-year period while they were in his care.
