A man allegedly posed as a rideshare driver in Brisbane's nightclub precincts before assaulting young women trying to get home from a night out.

The 43-year-old from Augustine Heights faced the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with multiple counts of sexual assault relating to three alleged victims aged between 19 and 21.

On one occasion, police will allege the man dropped a woman off before following her into her home.

It's understood he is not a legitimate rideshare driver, and police believe he targeted women on the street who appeared to be trying to book an Uber or similar service.

Once in the car and unable to book the fare through the usual app, it's alleged the man organised a cash payment instead.

The alleged offences took place over a number of weeks during September and October, and police are urging anyone who thinks they may have been targeted to come forward.
