‘Beware of dog’: Pilbara cops’ lucky escape during foot chase through Karratha
“Beware of dog...”
That’s the message from WA police after two officers on the hunt almost became a dog’s meal during a foot chase in Karratha.
In vision shared on social media, Jake Lee and Keith Wilson jump from their police car as they look to reel in an alleged thief in WA’s Pilbara region.
The chase takes them to the front of a home and continues through to the backyard.
But as one of the officers jumps a fence, he his immediately warned by his colleague a dog is ready to pounce.
This sees the constable pump the brakes and scramble back over the gate, away from the clutches of a snarling Tyson the dog.

Obviously relieved, the officer rolls away laughing and quickly returns to the chase.
“The team successfully caught their man a little way down the road, and he was charged with aggravated burglary and stealing,” a WA Police spokesperson said.
They added that the constables returned later “to make peace with Tyson” but they “weren’t so keen on jumping the fence again”.
“Good job! Loved your quick reaction. Well done for not getting the backside of your pants ripped off. Thanks again to police for all you do to keep us safe,” Mandy Turner commented after the vision was shared on social media.
Another, Alana Forester, commented: “Well done to the boys in blue but also well done Tyson, protecting his home.”
Correna Murphy said that it was great officers could laugh about what was a pretty hairy situation.
“I love that even in a tense situation they can have a laugh. Well one of them did.”
Another also pondered a pretty important question: “How many cartons will that cost them at the station?”
