A 63-year-old man accused of indecently assaulting a child at a swimming pool in Karratha has been charged by police.

Detectives launched their investigation after receiving reports of a man behaving inappropriately with children at a swimming pool in a caravan park on Rosemary Roadin in Baynton.

The man was allegedly at the pool last Sunday, September 27 and approached numerous families offering free swimming lessons to children.

Police said he interacted with various children on the day and allege he indecently assaulted an 11-year-old girl during this time.

The Wiluna man was charged with indecent dealing of a child under 13 years and has been remanded.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on 16 October.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives urge anyone who visited the pool between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September — particularly anyone who was offered swimming lessons or who has any information regarding this matter — to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
