Tens of thousands have signed a petition calling for Vladimir Putin’s ‘wife’ to be kicked out of hiding in Switzerland and deported back to Russia.

Olympic gold-winning gymnast Alina Kabaeva, 38, is believed to have been holed up in a chalet in the Swiss Alps for weeks as Putin wages war on Ukraine.

She is thought to have four children with the 69-year-old and while they have never officially confirmed their relationship, there is speculation that they may have married in private.

An online petition, on Change.org, describes her as the “wife of the delusional dictator” and it has urged Switzerland to “take action” and send her home to Moscow.

It has been signed by more than 62,000 people from “Russia, Belarus and Ukraine”.

“It’s time you reunite Eva Braun with her Fuhrer. Despite the current war, Switzerland continues to host an accomplice of Putin’s regime,” it reads.

Eva Braun was Adolf Hitler’s mistress and later wife.

The former gymnast is seldom seen in public but was last caught on video in Moscow in December.

Earlier this month, it was reported she had since travelled to Switzerland, where she is seeing out the war with their four children in a mountain retreat.

It is feared that Putin’s carefully hidden assets may mean that the family has been able to escape the tough sanctions announced by the Swiss Federal Council in February.

The West has so far not directly sanctioned Kabaeva, despite her being chairman of the board of directors at the National Media Group – a Kremlin-obedient TV and newspaper behemoth.

There is currently no independent evidence that she is hiding in Switzerland.

In her only statement linked to the war, Kabaeva slammed the refusal to allow the Russian team to compete at the Beijing Paralympics.

“There has never been a more shameful page in the history of world sports,” she said.
