The Pretty Uglys and Sonatay will play at a new festival on Busselton Foreshore called Raising the Vibe.

The aim of the festival is to support youth mental health issues and help raise awareness of suicide risks in teenagers, with funds raised going to headspace.

The free all-ages festival will include a jam-packed line-up of local musical talent, family- friendly entertainment, activities and food stalls.

The festival is seeking expressions of interest from school bands and Indigenous acts, with seven performances scheduled and a special headline act yet to be announced.

Raising the Vibe is a Busselton Blue Tree project run with Lifeline and headspace.

Lifeline and headspace staff will interact with patrons throughout the event to raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.

Busselton Blue Tree mental health activist Jon Eddy said the event would be a fun, alcohol-free environment for all ages.

“We all just want to achieve the same goal of saving lives, and we want to get young people talking about how COVID has affected their hope for the future,” he said.

David Johnston, local Branch Manager for Community Bank Busselton and Dunsborough, part of Bendigo Bank said it was the community bank’s mission to assist programs and initiatives to support local music acts, as well as fundraising for mental health support.

“It’s fantastic to be able to support local student bands and youth in the community to talk about their experiences with mental health issues,” he said.

“Right across the volunteer board we share a passion for the importance of mental health issues.”

Bendigo Bank and the City of Busselton will sponsor the festival which is seeking additional sponsors.

Raising the Vibe will be held at the Busselton foreshore amphitheatre on February 6.
