This year could be the most important ever to donate to the Bunbury Toy Run and help make the Christmas period easier for families doing it tough, according the the Salvation Army’s Captain Mark Schatz.

The Razorback Riders Social Club will this year be joined by the South West Car Club for the run, which starts at the Apple Fun Park in Donnybrook before making its way into Bunbury collecting toys to be re-distributed to families in need ahead of Christmas.

Donations can be dropped off at the Koombana Bay, Victoria Street or Back Beach collection points, or at the Big Swamp, where the run is set to finish and culminate in a bike and car show.

“I think knowing that the Razorback Riders and the South West Car Club are wanting to partner and wanting to make a difference in the community is awesome, and more than ever it is needed this year,” Captain Schatz said.

Last year the Salvation Army gave away 67,000 toys, gift cards and toiletries in the week before Christmas.

Gary Blee from the Razorback Riders Social Club said the club was passionate about the ride and looking forward to partnering with the South West Car Club.

“We used to do it through the Harley Davidson shop and when they closed down the Razorbacks jumped on board straight away, because we didn’t want to see it be cancelled,” he said.

“We are going to do it for as long as we possibly can, so for many years to come we hope.”
