Man airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after ‘surfing incident’ at Margaret Rivermouth in Prevelly

A man has been flown to Royal Perth Hospital after being be rescued from the banks of the Margaret River after what is believed to be a surfing incident this morning.

Paramedics were called to the incident near Rivermouth Road in Prevelly about 10.20am, where they found the man in his 30s in the water.

They called Margaret River State Emergency Services and the RAC Rescue helicopter for help to rescue the man, who was eventually saved about 12pm.

It is understood the man had been involved in a surfing incident in the lead-up to the rescue.

Images obtained by The West Australian show at least 12 SES volunteers involved in the rescue.

Unlike during summer, the beach was deserted this morning, with only a handful of surfers in the area.

The man is in a stable condition in RPH’s emergency department.
