A bushfire was sparked in the Shire of Denmark on Thursday after winds caused a prescribed burn to escape control.

Emergency services were called to the blaze near Collis Road and Paperbark Dale in Trent at 11.10am.

The blaze burnt through about 20ha before being brought under control by firefighters.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said eight crews were deployed to the scene to help contain the fire.

Authorities established a control point on the corner of Collis Road and Hazlevale Road.

While the exact time the fire was declared under control was not known, DFES confirmed it was handed back to the landowner after 4pm on the same day.
