Scotty’s Shot: Reigning premiers Emu Point Red flex muscles in round 10 of Lower Great Southern Bowling League

Reigning first division pennant holders Emu Point Red have continued on their merry way in round 10 of the men’s Lower Great Southern Bowling League with a big home win against a disappointing Middleton Beach Gold 5.5 (81) to 0.5 (38).

Mt Barker moved off the bottom of the ladder, albeit by one point, after an upset away win over Middleton Beach Green 5 (60) to 1 (51) while Albany Gold were dominant at home to account for Middleton Beach Black 6 (76) to 0 (55).

Denmark also recorded a huge win to completely outclass Emu Point Purple 6 (73) to 0 (31).

These results sees Middleton Beach Black, Mt Barker and Emu Point Purple all within one point of each other in the relegation battle.

In the men’s second division Albany Green maintain their recent good form as they stayed in touch with ladder leaders Mt Barker Golf Red, with a vital 6 (64) to 0 (55) win over Mt Barker Golf White, as Mt Barker Golf Red defeated Emu Point White 5.5 (61) to 0.5 (52).

Albany Grey kept in touch with the top four after a close-fought away win over Walpole 4 (62) to 2 (59) while Cranbrook recorded a vital win at home over Albany Brown 4 (62) to 2 (51).

After round 11 of the men’s third division, ladder leaders Middleton Beach White were too good for Mt Barker Golf Blue 5 (62) to 1 (48) as second-placed Denmark defeated Middleton Beach Lime 5.5 (70) to 0.5 (44).

Albany White were impressive at home as they accounted for Emu Point Blue 5 (71) to 1 (51) while Frankland easily beat Green Range 6 (65) to 0 (48).

These results has White only 5.5 points in front of Denmark in the race for the pennant and promotion.

An exciting final round of ladies pennants will be held this weekend with all games in first division having an impact on who will win the and who will get demoted.

First-placed Emu Point Red (32 premiership points) will host seventh-sitting Albany Gold (21) and Albany Green (19) who are eighth will play fourth-placed Middleton Beach Green (27).

Middleton Beach White in third will battle six-placed Denmark Aqua (21) as reigning pennant holders Mt Barker Golf in fourth (27) finish the round against second-sitting Emu Point Purple (32).
