Percy Spencer Racecourse was the place to be on Easter Sunday as hundreds of dolled-up punters flooded the venue for the Wellington & Reeves Albany Community Cup. Gloomy skies and dribbles of rain forced the masses to shelter inside the clubrooms but some brave souls ventured out into the weather to watch champion hoop Lucy Fiore power emerging star True Player to victory in the showpiece race. The five-year-old Grant and Alana Williams trained-gelding scooped the $68,500 first prize for its winning connections, one of whom is Mungrup’s Gray Williamson. While keen race fans avidly watched the seven-slot program, others enjoyed the spectacle of fashions on the field, live music, and a blow-up obstacle course.
