With Christmas and summer upon us, the City of Albany’s Christmas extended trading hours are in effect.

Stores are now allowed to open until 9pm on weekdays and from 10am to 5pm on Sundays, with some shops already taking advantage of the extra trading hours.

City corporate and commercial services executive director Duncan Olde said the trading hours allowed store owners to provide their services more often, to more people.

“Allowing all stores to open for longer hours across key periods of the year provides residents and visitors with the capacity and flexibility to shop at traditionally busier times of the year,” he said.

“Shopping local grows local business, stimulates the local economy and supports our community particularly in a busy festive season.”
