London’s three-times 2025 Olivier Award-winning production — including best musical revival — of Fiddler On The Roof will open at His Majesty’s Theatre in January 2027.
The Perth season is part of an Australian tour featuring Troy Sussman as Tevye, Sigrid Thornton as Yente, John Waters as Lazar Wolf, Alexis Fishman as Golde, and introducing rising stars Freya Boltman, Ellen Ebbs and Caity Plummer.
Having premiered at London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2024 before transferring to the West End, this classic musical has been told through a contemporary lens by director Jordan Fein, whose bold interpretation has been critically acclaimed for its emotional depth, inventive staging and striking theatrical detail.
Set in the tiny village of Anatevka in 1905, it follows the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman who lives his life by their proud traditions, which includes a visit from the matchmaker for his five daughters.

As each daughter challenges his beliefs, Tevya must choose whether he holds on to his roots or bends to the will of his children, embracing the unfamiliar in a changing world.

Full of joy, community and an exuberant celebration of love and life, the musical score includes If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker and Sunrise, Sunset.
Fiddler On The Roof will have its inaugural Australian premiere season at Theatre Royal Sydney from July 31, as stage and screen legends Thornton and Water reunite after their 1983 historical miniseries, All the Rivers Run.
The musical will tour to Brisbane and Melbourne before opening at His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth from January 7 to 31, 2027.
