Reality TV star Angie Kent has shared heartbreaking news, revealing her father Markos has died following a battle with cancer.

The Gogglebox favourite has been documenting her journey towards solo motherhood on social media, but on Saturday revealed a devastating overlap in her life plans.

As her embryos were arriving in Brisbane, her father was entering palliative care.

She confirmed on Instagram he had passed away, alongside an emotional reflection on their final days together.

“On Tuesday the 28th of April, I found out my embryos were finally on their way from Sydney to Brisbane,” Kent started the post.

“The moment I’d been waiting for. The next chapter for me and my family.

“That same day, I was told there was nothing left they could do. Dad was going into palliative care.

“That timing really messed with my head. Something so beautiful was finally coming and something so beautiful was being taken away.

“Two days later, on Thursday the 30th of April, I watched my dad take his final breath.”

Kent revealed her father had been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer, adding: “F**k all cancer. What a cruel, brutal way to lose someone you love.”

She shared the emotional message alongside a photo of herself holding his hand in hospital, while they both held a purple flower.

Kent has been open about her father’s health struggles while also navigating her own path towards solo motherhood.

Earlier this year, the former Bachelorette said choosing to have a child on her own was never a “backup plan at all” explaining it felt right to “do it my way”.

The 35-year-old said while many assumed her decision was driven by age or a lack of partner, that wasn’t the case.

“If you’re navigating dating while also feeling called toward solo motherhood, you’re not alone,” she posted in January.

“There’s no one right way to build a family … only the way that feels true to you.”

Kent also explained while the IVF journey was daunting, she felt “blessed” to have 14 embryos successfully frozen after dealing with multiple health conditions affecting fertility.

She has previously spoken about conditions including interstitial cystitis, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis and adenomyosis.

In her most recent post, Kent shared her father had been excited at the prospect of becoming a “Poppy”, revealing his chosen nickname was going to be “Moppy”.

“My dream of starting my own family with my Mumma and Pappa right by my side… it feels like it’s been ripped out from under me,” Kent wrote.

“I was planning on moving back to my family home, where Dad and I were going to renovate the garage, his man cave, into an apartment for me while I was a new mum on my own and so they could be right there.

“Our chance to recreate a new and healthy version of our family after years of suffering. To do it differently. Break patterns and generational cycles. Together.”

Kent ended her post by telling her father he can “rest now”.

“You can rest now my strong battler of a Dad. No more pain,” Kent said.

“I’ll love you and will hold your hand forever and ever and ever.”
