Macmahon Irish Day

Saturday, Ascot Racecourse

Immerse yourself in the charm of the Emerald Isle on Irish Day, where the spirit of Ireland meets the thrill of the races with a pop-up traditional Irish village and live band Craic’n’On.

With plenty of Irish-themed food to enjoy and Guinness and Kilkenny on tap, punters can also watch a live screening of the Cox Plate from Victoria.

Aspire GHS & St Hilda’s Art Exhibition

Bec Juniper Pippin Drysdale, Rebecca Koerting, Emma Lipscombe and Tammi de Rooy are just some of the well-known artists with work on display at this popular event. Entry to the exhibition is free today, (10am to 4pm) and tomorrow (10am to 3pm). Art work from St Hilda’s students will also be on display.

Performing Arts WA Awards

It’s the one time of the year when professional arts workers from dance, theatre, musicals and opera come together to celebrate in solidarity and style.

The awards ceremony will see dozens of awards given out to some of last year’s finest productions, with special awards highlighting achievement and exceptional emerging talent.

Fremantle Biennale

This huge event has returned with a program called Signals, a 16-night line-up of major experiential installations and performances set to take over the port city.

Events span dockside dance performances, strobe-lit warehouse installations and spectacular drone light and sound shows across the night skies of Fremantle, Melville and Rottnest Island.

Plan Ahead

Concert for Ukraine, November 30, 7.30pm, Perth Concert Hall

During the tragic winter of 2014 at the height of the Ukrainian Revolution protests in Kyiv, a young music student by the name of Antuanetta Mishchenko played a yellow and blue piano on top of a burnt-out bus.

For one night only, Mishchenko will perform with the Perth Symphony Orchestra, with the support of 18-year-old Ustym Sokalskyi on cello.

Highlights of this evening will include a rendition of the Ukrainian national anthem, features from composers Sylwestrow, Lyssenko and Lysohub, and a performance of Beethoven’s 5th piano concerto The Emperor.

Mishchenko has selected Health of the Ukrainian People to benefit from the concert.
