Newly acquired magnetic data has strengthened Reedy Lagoon’s search for gold across four prospects at its Burracoppin gold project in the central Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The wholly-owned project lies just 20 kilometres from Ramelius Resources’ Edna May mine where more than one million ounces of the precious yellow metal has already been produced.

Exploration at Burracoppin has so far focused on a major structural feature known as the Yandina Shear Zone. A soil sampling campaign undertaken last year defined gold anomalism on four prospect areas in the vicinity of this structure.

The now-concluded magnetic survey was designed to generate more detailed information and enable a thorough interpretation of geological features found at the project, as Reedy Lagoon looks to define areas where an accumulation of gold may be present.

Past soil sampling at the Lady Janet prospect identified a significant zone stretching for at least one kilometre along, and adjacent to the Yandina Shear Zone. In addition, the new magnetic data has now enhanced existing targets while also unearthing fresh targets in areas which weren’t previously sampled by the company.

To the south at the Windmills prospect, soil sampling delineated a large gold anomaly covering at least 1,400 metres by 400 metres. According to management, interpretation of the magnetic data has unveiled the presence of a structural zone subparallel to the Yandina Shear, boosting the potential for existing targets to host gold mineralisation.

Further south at the Zebra prospect, the magnetic data identified prospective structures which may be associated with existing gold anomalism that extends for at least 1,400 metres in length. New targets have also been revealed at Zebra.

Success from the recent magnetic and soil sampling work extended to the Shear Luck prospect where Reedy Lagoon also detected new structures running parallel to the mapped location of the Yandina Shear Zone.

The company is now weighing up its next steps at Burracoppin.

It said exploration works may include additional soil sampling to investigate new targets interpreted in the magnetic data, coupled with further systematic soil sampling to pinpoint the locations for future drill testing of prospective areas.

Reedy Lagoon’s search for gold at Burracoppin appears to be making good ground. The project lies in the right neighbourhood with the mighty Edna May mine sitting just a stone’s throw away. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if the company unearthed a treasure trove of its own at Burracoppin.
