Former AFL star Lewis Jetta was the star attraction as Donnybrook bagged their first win of the South West Football League season on Saturday, smashing Dunsborough by 74 points at Boyanup Oval. Playing alongside his brother Brandon, the Sydney and West Coast premiership player featured in defence for the Dons as they recorded a 13.13 (91) to 2.5 (17) win. The 35-year-old, whose career at the top level ended after 202 games in 2020, showed the passage of time has not dulled his famous kicking skills, finding teammates with pinpoint long passes on several occasions. Young gun Cooper Clarke-Dehring continued a strong start to the season in the big win with six goals, while Jack Goyder and Jake Green were the only goal-kickers on a dirty day for the Sharks. A nine-goal haul from key forward Jordan Strahan inspired Harvey Bulls to their first win of the South West Football League season on Sunday, beating Eaton by 23 points at Glen Huon Reserve. The power forward, recruited from Goldfields Football League club Mines Rovers over the summer, sent a message to the rest of the competition of his quality with a dominant performance in the 11.8 (74) to 7.9 (51) victory. Harvey are now off the foot of the ladder and into ninth position, ahead of Dunsborough and Collie on percentage. Sunday’s other fixture saw South Bunbury’s brilliant start to the season continue with a 106-point smashing of Collie at Hands Oval. Spearhead Blaine Johnson led the way with six goals for the Tigers among 11 individual goal-kickers, while Richard Bourne (three goals), Lachlan Riley (two) and Mitch Bain (one) continued exceptional campaigns.
